Validation of EP patents in Georgia

The validation agreement between the European Patent Organisation (EPO) and Georgia has come into effect on January 15, 2024. This agreement allows inventors and businesses to validate their European patent applications and patents granted by the EPO in Georgia under the country’s national law. The agreement enables patent protection in Georgia for European patents, aligning them with the same conditions as national patents. This marks the fifth such agreement for the EPO, following similar agreements with Morocco, the Republic of Moldova, Tunisia, and Cambodia, bringing the total number of countries allowing patent protection through a single European patent application to 45.
